Diss Elephant

ERM are carrying out preliminary research looking at the legend of the Diss Elephant.

Prior to a funding bid, ERM joined UEA geophysics student Elena Damian, under the supervision of professor Dr. Jessica Johnson, on a cursory scan of the Fair Green in Diss, Norfolk.

We made the Diss Express and the Eastern Daily Press and had an interview with BBC Norfolk.

We will follow up findings and put a bid together to involve local schools and youth groups in researching the stories and create a community event to celebrate findings.

The hottest day of the year saw ERM's Tim Edwards meet with Elena from UEA and Lorna from Diss Town Youth Council at Fair Green, Diss.

We met Derek (local historian and keeper of the Fair Green archives) and Colin (an eye witness to the elephant burial in 1946) and will interview them at length.
